I-Core - Conventional Troubleshooting

The I-Core is a hybrid controller that can function as both a conventional and a two-wire controller simultaneously. Conventional modules must be installed before the Dual module, and conventional stations cannot be programmed as Dual decoder stations.

No Stations Running (Multiple Faults)
  1. Access Advanced Features
    • Turn the dial to Advanced Features.
    • Arrow down to Firmware Info, then press the + button.
  2. Check Station Size
    • The first two numbers on the bottom line indicate the station size. If the station size shows 48, this may indicate a faulty station module.
  3. Reset and Reinstall Modules
    • Using the internal slide tab bar, remove all Station Modules.
    • Install the first module. Slide the power bar back to Power On, then tap the reset button.
    • Check Station Count:
      • If correct, install the next module and repeat the process.
      • Continue adding modules one at a time until: The station count changes to 48, or all modules are installed.
  4. Resolution
    • In many cases, resetting the modules resolves the problem. If a single module was creating the 48-station count, replace that module.
Multiple Stations Running Simultaneously
  1. Verify Station Spacing: Check whether the stations running together are exactly 6 stations apart.
Examples: Station 4 and Station 10, or Station 7 and Station 13
  2. Identify the Activated Station: Determine which station the controller was supposed to turn on. Example: If the controller activates Station 9, that corresponds to Module 2, Station 3.
  3. Understand Module Behavior: All modules receive the command signal, but only the correct module should respond.
If another module also activates, note its station number.
  4. Locate the Faulty Module: If the extra station is 6 stations ahead of the activated one, for example: Station 9 commanded, Station 15 also running → the Incorrect module is Module 3 (stations 13–18).
  5. Replace the Incorrect Module: Remove and replace the module that should not be operating. Example: Replace Module 3 (stations 13–18).
