Hydrawise Wi-Fi - Testing Controller with Hotspot

If you have no internet access or poor internet access, you can use your smartphone as a hotspot (temporary Wi-Fi connection) to do either of the following:

  • Testing the controller
  • Programming controller with no Wi-Fi (e.g., new construction)

Depending on your smartphone model, please select a guide to activate your hotspot:

Apple hotspot

Android hotspot

IMPORTANT: The Personal Hotspot for iPhone enables 5 GHz Wi-Fi by default on all iPhone 12 models. In the Settings > Personal Hotspot menu on this device, a Maximize Compatibility toggle feature is available. Enabling this toggle will allow 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, which is required for all Hydrawise Controllers.

Rescan the Network (Factory Reset)

This method removes all the information stored in the controller: the programs, Wi-Fi settings, Delays, Sensor configuration, etc. After the Factory Reset, you must reconnect your controller to the internet. All other settings will be sent to the controller from the cloud when back online.

This is a great method for re-establishing a Wi-Fi connection.

  1. From the home screen, select Settings.
  2. Select Config.
  3. Select Factory Default.
  4. Select Erase config.
  5. Select Ok to start.
  6. Select Ok to scan for networks.
  7. You can choose your 2.4g Network from the list provided on the screen.
  8. Select Confirm.
  9. Enter the Wireless Password and select OK.
  10. Select Continue to perform a network test.

Congratulations, you have now successfully factory reset your controller, and it is now ready for fresh configuration settings, manually or automatically, by synchronizing it with your Hydrawise account.
