In partnership with KidsGardening, Hunter is pleased to announce that 25 elementary and middle schools from across the United States have been awarded Waterwise Garden Grants totaling $43,750 to develop garden education programs.
Each school received $1,000 in funding and an irrigation supply kit to create gardens that promote water conservation and environmental stewardship.
In addition, five schools were granted $1,250 through the Waterwise Garden Equity Specialty Award, designed for schools that face special challenges.
“School gardens give students a hands-on way to learn why water is so essential to our communities and our planet. We’re grateful to partner with KidsGardening to help more schools build engaging, waterwise outdoor classrooms.”
–Warren Gorowitz, Director of Sustainability and Social Impact
Launched in 2024 with five recipients, the program will grow to support more than 50 schools over the next few years. Any public or charter school in the United States that supports under-resourced communities and works with at least 15 students is eligible to apply.
